NEW – Ergonomics and telework
A little over a year after the great migration of office workers to their homes, the after-effects of the workstations improvised last March are being felt. Poor posture and occasional pain are gradually leading to musculoskeletal disorders.
How can these workers be protected? Santinel’s ergonomists came up with this solution: online training aimed at equipping teleworkers to adjust their own home workstations.
An overview of the course
Contrary to popular belief, the purchase of specialized equipment, often expensive, is not always the key to an ergonomic workstation. You can correct your posture with everyday objects:
- A cushion or a rolled towel slipped between the back of the chair and the back will provide good lumbar support.
- A shoebox or a few books stacked under a screen will raise it to eye level and relieve the neck.
If you choose specialized equipment, you still need to know how to use it! An adjustable office chair will prevent many aches and pains if its back, seat and armrests are properly positioned.
Small changes, great benefits
Good lifestyle habits will also make a big difference: resting your eyes every 20 minutes, reducing the brightness of your screen and placing your workstation next to a natural light source will eliminate many headaches and allow employees to be more efficient.
All of these topics will be covered in the training, as well as many others: stretching, mental health, work-life balance, etc. A question period will allow workers to receive personalized advice from our ergonomists.
