It also covers the stabilization of injuries of all kinds, communication systems with pre-hospital services, the use of backboards or “SKEDs” and the principles of emergency movement, among other things.

First responders are often people who have to react in the absence of emergency services or when such services can not arrive quickly enough, e.g., in remote municipalities. Many firefighters also attend this training due to their exposure to emergency situations.
It goes without saying that these people are acting as an intermediary between a first-aid attendant and an ambulance paramedic, and thus must have solid training.
This course is intended for different people:
- The participants requiring first responder training certified by the Canadian Red Cross will obtain it by taking this course.
- The participants requiring a course in first responder training for use in industrial settings, in particular, will obtain it by taking this course. Indeed, the certificate issued to the participant who successfully completes this course is recognized by the CNESST.
